Obligations
You know, I recently had an interesting conversation with my mother…Long story short, I drew me to this conclusion: We don’t have to fly to the Amazon to meet with a tribe of indians to call ourselves missionaries. Now your probably thinking- wow Zack, that was very profound. But seriously it got me thinking…and made me ponder it for a while. What we really need, in order to change America, is for everyday people at normal jobs and workplaces to live a life like Christ’s. No I’m not downing pastors, evangelists, or missionaries…Far from it. I’m saying its our obligation as Christian Americans (in that order) to walk with God in front of everybody else our everyday lives. There- thats my profound thought for the week.

Love On The Move
Adoration. Fondness. Appreciation. Ardor. Crush. Enchantment. Weakness. Yearning. Worship. Zeal.
These are all words that the world uses to define love. But as a Christian, I’ve recently become more and more interested in how the bible defines love.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” -John 3:16
If you’ve never heard that verse before, then, well…I’d like to take you to lunch. But chances are you have.
But what is that love really?
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”-John 13:34-35
But something I’ve come to realize is that LOVING somebody doesn’t mean ACCEPTING their sin…
“What shall we say then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may abound? Surely not! We are those who have died in sin- how can we live in it any longer?”-Romans 6:1-2
Christ has already demonstrated His love through his sacrifice- His death- that we can have a chance to spend eternity in heaven. At a Disciple-Now weekend I recently attended where the theme was Love In Motion (pssshh no- thats not what inspired the name of my tumblr), my unit leader asked me why we feel convicted to Love Jesus…Without even thinking, I said “Because He loved us first.”
Uninvited. We didn’t ask for Jesus to save us. He did it because He loves us.
Selflessness. That’s what it’s about.
Jesus selflessly died on the cross, taking the weight of the world and all of it’s sin upon himself for us. For love.
“Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” -John 14:15 (Wow- lots of good stuff in John, y’all.)
And thats how we can express our love to God. He died for us. He gave us an invitation-party at His place- forever. And all He asks of us is obedience. So let’s get out there and do it. Let’s go out and demonstrate our Love for Jesus Christ our Savior by obeying him. Let’s get love on the move.
